Isabgol is best known for making a traditional soaked drink, stirred into water or milk and left to swell before serving. This 100g pack of Telephone Isabgol is whole psyllium husk, light in colour and fibrous in texture, sold ready to use straight from the pack. At home, a spoonful is mixed into a glass of water or milk and left to stand for a few minutes until it thickens, then stirred again before drinking. Some cooks add a little sugar or stir it through a yoghurt drink for extra body. It is also used in small amounts to thicken homemade drinks and mixtures where a gel-like texture is wanted. Keep the pack sealed and store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Use a dry spoon each time to keep the remaining husk in good condition. Once mixed with liquid, isabgol should be drunk fairly soon after preparing, as it continues to thicken and swell the longer it stands. A small amount goes a long way, so measure it out carefully before adding to water or milk.
