Heera Ajwain is a pack of small, oval seeds with a strong, thyme-like aroma. Each seed is ridged and pale brown, with a sharp, slightly bitter bite when tasted whole. This 700g pack is ideal for kitchens that use ajwain regularly in cooking. Ajwain is a familiar ingredient in Indian and Pakistani cooking, often added whole to hot oil before other ingredients go into the pan. It is commonly used in parathas, puris and other flatbreads, giving the dough a distinctive savoury note. Cooks also add it to dals, potato dishes and pakoras, or sprinkle it into batters for bhajis. A small pinch goes a long way, so measure carefully when adding to a dish. Toasting the seeds briefly in a dry pan or in warm oil brings out their aroma before mixing them through other ingredients.
