Soghat Banafsha is a herbal product made from dried violet flowers, sold whole for infusing. The petals are delicate and light, with a soft violet-purple colour and a mild, floral aroma. Their fine, papery texture means they steep quickly once added to hot water. In the kitchen, dried violet flowers are most often used to make a fragrant herbal tea, simply steeped in freshly boiled water for a few minutes before straining. Some cooks also use the petals to add colour and scent to syrups, or scatter a few over desserts and puddings for a decorative finish. To brew, place a small handful of petals in a cup or teapot, cover with hot water and leave to infuse before drinking. The flowers can also be combined with other dried herbs for a blended tisane. Store Soghat Banafsha in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep the petals in a sealed, airtight container to help maintain their colour and aroma between uses. Once opened, use within a reasonable time for the best flavour and fragrance in your teas and recipes.
