E.E Whole Cloves are dried, unopened flower buds with a dark brown colour and a firm, nail-like shape. They carry a strong, warm aroma and a sharp, pungent flavour that comes through even in small amounts. This pack contains 200g of whole cloves, ready to use straight from the bag. Whole cloves are a familiar addition to both sweet and savoury cooking. Use them to stud a baked ham before roasting, or drop a few into simmering rice for biryanis and pilaus. They work well in curries and spiced stews, added whole and removed before serving. At Christmas time, whole cloves are often used to flavour mulled wine or mulled cider, simmered gently with fruit and spices. For best results, add whole cloves early in cooking so their flavour has time to infuse the dish. Because they are hard and woody, they should be removed before eating or used in dishes where they can be picked out easily. Keep the cloves in a sealed container, away from direct light and heat, to help maintain their strength and aroma over time.
