HQ Sliced Karela is bitter gourd cut into slices and frozen, ready to cook straight from the freezer. Karela has a distinctive bitter flavour and a firm, ridged texture that softens once heated through in the pan. This is a store-cupboard staple in many South Asian kitchens. Use the slices for a classic karela sabzi, frying with onion, garlic and everyday spices until lightly golden. It also works well added to curries, or cooked simply with potatoes as a side dish alongside rice or chapati.
