Cirio Tomato Puree is best known for enriching a classic spaghetti bolognese, giving the sauce depth and a deep red colour. It is a concentrated tomato paste, thick in texture, made for stirring into dishes rather than eating on its own. Cooks use it as a base for pasta sauces, soups and stews. A spoonful added early in cooking, before the tomatoes or stock go in, builds a stronger tomato flavour. It also works well stirred into a pizza sauce or added to a casserole to thicken the liquid and boost colour. Because it is concentrated, only a small amount is needed at a time. Once opened, keep the puree in the fridge and use within a few days. Any leftover puree can be spooned into an ice cube tray and frozen in small portions, ready to drop straight into a pan whenever a recipe calls for it. This makes it easy to keep a jar or tube on hand for regular use in weeknight cooking, without waste.
