Kohinoor Platinum Basmati cooks into long, separate grains with a light, fluffy texture. Each grain stays firm and distinct once cooked, without turning sticky or clumping in the pan. This makes it easy to fork through and serve straight away. This is a long grain basmati rice, sold here in a 5kg bag for households that cook rice regularly. It has the fine, slender grain shape basmati is known for, along with its characteristic fragrance when cooking. Use it as the base for a midweek chicken curry, alongside a dhal, or as a plain side to a Sunday roast. It also works well in a simple pilau, taking on the flavours of whole spices, onions and stock without losing its shape. For biryani, its long grains hold up well to layering and slow cooking. Rinse the rice before cooking to remove excess starch, then drain well. Once cooked, keep the lid on for a few minutes off the heat to let the grains finish steaming through.
