Glacé cherries are best known for topping a classic cherry cake, where their bright colour and sweetness shine through every slice. This product is a pack of whole glacé cherries, part of our Nuts & Dried Fruit range, ready to use straight from the tub. Glacé cherries have a glossy, sticky surface and a soft, chewy bite. Their vivid red colour makes them easy to spot in a bake or a bowl of trail mix. They hold their shape well when baked, which is why they are a favourite for fruit cakes, Christmas cake and simple bakewell tarts. In the kitchen, they are often folded into cake batter, scattered over flapjacks or pressed into rocky road alongside other dried fruit and nuts. Bakers also use them to decorate the top of a cake or trifle, giving a traditional finish that is easy to recognise. Keep glacé cherries in a sealed container in a cool, dry place once opened. This helps stop them drying out or sticking together. If they do become a little firm, a quick rinse in warm water before use will soften them and make them easier to fold into a mixture.
