Brown lentils hold their shape well once simmered, softening to a tender bite without turning mushy. This makes them a dependable base for hearty, home-style cooking. These are whole brown lentils, sold in a 500g pack. They have an earthy, mild flavour that takes on the taste of whatever they are cooked with, from stock and spices to garlic and onion. Their firm texture means they keep some bite even after a long simmer, so they work well in dishes that need a bit of structure.
